SWATT for Jesus - About Us

In preparation for "S.W.A.T.T. For Jesus", January 8, 2004, Gary and Valerie closed their doors to the S.W.A.T.T. Fitness Camp program. For training background see website: SwattFitness.com They sacrificed their home, fitness camp, and lifestyle in order to hear the Lord. He wanted their full attention while He revealed what they were unknowingly being prepared for.

They traveled 500 miles north, which put them in the Bay area. As they spent time in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley, where they lived on the streets, the Lord had them meet with various individuals ranging from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese Office as part of their Task Team in support of family and marriage, along with the Baptist Churches, to the Berkeley Home Churches, and of course, the youth whom He had laid upon their heart.

They made many trips there, and it became very clear that many of these youth and young adults are very confused. Not only by the messages given to them by the world, but also by some pastors and ministers who saturate their congregations in "prosperity preaching."

As followers of Jesus, we know that blessings and prosperity come in many forms, and cannot and should not only be measured by money or material things. As a result, the youth and young adults are finding themselves with few answers, which often lead them to go along with the world's values of self-indulgence with material things, fast food, alcohol & drugs, and sexual misconduct.

The "S.W.A.T.T. Blowout Events" are designed to build youth spiritually, mentally, and physically; preparing youth to be strong future leaders whose lives are centered on holiness.

GARY'S BIO

Gary Liggins served honorably in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant Military Police where he earned an AA degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force, then later attended McKendree College and Citrus Belt Law School, Riverside, CA. His devotion to duty and his commitment to excellence earned him numerous awards and honors. Gary special duty assignments included: U.S. Air Force Emergency Security Team (SWAT) Air Force Presidential Security Support Team and the Military Airlift Command Elite Guard Team. A lifelong athlete, Gary played basketball overseas for the Air Force, and competed in track-and-field, and has practiced martial arts for more than 10 years as well. Gary then continued his education at the International Medical Fitness Trainers Association (IFPA) where he received his personal fitness trainer certification from Dr. James A. Huff, Riverside, CA.

VALERIE'S BIO

Valerie Liggins was born and raised in Chicago, IL., where she developed her love for sports watching her father play baseball. Valerie attended the University of Stevens Point Wisconsin and then later received a certification in computers at the Lakeview Center in Chicago, IL. Valerie traveled 167 cities including Bahamas and Canada as a former Ebony Fashion Fair runway model and was featured in music videos and magazines. Valerie was then employed by Sony Pictures Entertainment as an Executive Assistant for Sony Pictures Distribution Department, Culver City, CA. Valerie then turned her efforts toward health & fitness where she earned her International Medical Fitness Trainers Association Certification (IFPA) from Dr. James A. Huff at the University California, Riverside.
